Buttons, Red (1919-2006). American actor and comedian who won an Oscar and Golden Globe for his role in the 1957 movie "Sayonara". - Original Matte-Finish Photograph Signed by the American Actor & Comedian Red Buttons.

Good. - An original 9-1/4 inch high by 7-1/4 inch wide matte-finish photograph of the actor Red Buttons. The image portrays the young actor and comedian from the chest up attired in a light colored herringbone jacket over a white shirt and tie. The photograph is inscribed and signed "Ho Ho! Red Buttons" across the jacket at lower left. There are staple holes and stains near the corners along the top and bottom borders and a couple of stained indentations to the image, two tiny ones across the bridge of Red Buttons' nose. Good. The American actor and comedian Red Buttons (1919-2006) was born Aaron Chwatt. He first worked as an "entertaining bellhop" at Ryan's Tavern in the Bronx when he was sixteen years old. The orchestra leader Charles "Dinty" Moore nicknamed him "Red Buttons" because of his red hair and the shiny buttons of his uniform. He performed on the Borscht Belt with Robert Alda as his straight man. He went on to work for Minsky's Burlesque and subsequently appeared on Broadway and in movies winning both an Oscar and Golden Globe for his role in the 1957 film "Sayonara". Good .
