Publisher's decorated cloth, light wear to extremities. A narrative of Church's travels through Turkestan in 1899-90 together with his friend J.V. Phelps. The aim of the journey was to try and shoot the Altai Wapiti, the great stag of the Tian Shan, ibex and roe deer. The route taken included Leh, Yarkand, Aksu, Shatta, Kuldja, and Khotan.
