New York: E. & G. W. Blunt, [1841]. [1841]. - Black-and-white copperplate engraving, 8-5/8 inches high by 7-1/4 inches wide, printed on a sheet of stock 10-3/8 inches high by 7-3/8 inches wide. The left edge has been slightly trimmed. There are a few small, very light stains to the map with a small, darker stain to the bottom margin. There are 3 light horizontal creases where the map has been folded. Good. This sea chart is from Edmund Blunt's "American Coast Pilot", which was first published, without plates, in Newburyport, Mass. in 1796. The first edition with maps was published in 1804 and this chart first appeared in the fourteenth edition of the book. Blunt was a leading figure in modern navigation. The chart was engraved by Hatch after Blunt's drawing. Good .
