. Pp. (xx), 5-275; (vi), 256 (2); (ii), 329, (1). With 7 engraved maps, of which one large of Constantinople, and 7 acquatint engraved plates, of which 5 folding. Some minor staining, a few plates soiled and with tear at margin. Half calf, spines with four raised gilt bands and lettered in gilt. A Swedish version of "Voyage de la Propontide et du Pont Euxin" (Paris 1800), translated by Bergstedt and with his comments and addendum. Additional descriptions of Smirna, Troaden, the islands of Zea, Tenedos, Metelin, Scio, Samos, Rhodus etc, and the ruins of Miletus and Ephesus are included. This edition also contains Dallaway's descriptions of Bosporen and Constantinople and a translation of Orpheus' poem about "the Argonautic train". References from works by Peyssonnell, D'Ohsson and Eton have been used. The translator (1760-1829) was a Swedish diplomat who travelled extensively to Egypt, Constantinople and Greece during the years 1794-97. The first part contains mainly his own travel account.
