Internally clean, tight and unmarked apart from the letter V to front pastedown and a small stamped M to title page with light foxing to closed edges. First UK edition. The author is Evelyn Domenica Berckman (1900-1978) an American murder mystery author. A novel featuring a big, gloomy and sinister house, inside of which is an ailing, middle aged woman, outside was her sister, both in a deadlock of hatred and bitterness over a family will. Dana, young, attractive was caught in the crossfire from both sides of the family quarrel. Was there something hidden, she wondered, behind this altercation that might explain it all?
