REID, STUART (INTRODUCTION) - Personal Image for Social Space

,Nine large pamphlets folded square and inserted in a stiff paper wrapper. Text is in both English and French. The first pamphlet is 'Introduction' by Stuart Reid. Then there are seven individual pamphlets by Gerald Ferguson, Ian Carr-Harris, E. J. Goodden, J. F. Granzow, Robert Jekyll, Frederic Urban, Stephanie White & Warren Hamill, and, finally, a pamphlet with the Jurors' Statements. This latter pamphlet discusses the 'submissions' (other pamphlets?) in some detail, but does not identify the competition for which the design proposals were apparently submitted. The National Library of Canada lists two copies in its holdings and shows the Canada Council as the sponsoring organization ('Exhibition and competition made possible through the assistance of the Canada Council'). A cursory examination of each pamphlet suggests that this is another example of the usual government-sponsored fluff. Each pamphlet slightly worn at edgs; else all in very good condition. Folder a bit more worn, but still in good plus condition. Ill.: black-&-white illustrations.
