GRIFFITH, GEORGE - With Chamberlain Through South Africa

George Routledge & Sons Ltd. London / Robt. A. Thompson & Co. Ltd, Capetown. 1903, First Edition. Hardcover, with dust jacket. 164 pages (complete). A VERY RARE copy of Griffith's account of Joseph Chamberlain's disastrous visit to South Africa after the Anglo-Boer War. He managed to get up everyone's noses and the visit set back the road to Unification and agreement somewhat. The spine of the book has been repaired with a leather strip. The back of the book has a thick card board. The front cover is of the South African edition and publisher. However, inside, the book is of the original publisher (Routledge). The front cover has a portrait of Chamberlain. It is much worn, scuffed, torn and marked. It is securely attached. Within, the early and later pages have age related marks and foxing. In general, the pages are benign, patient, clean(ish), clear, more than competent, more than useful, and are really quite pleasing. fk. Good/Poor.
