Small folio. (23.3 x 30.5 cm). Pp. (2) foreword, pp. 8 introduction (printed on different paper), pp. 57 of text and full-page illustrations. The main text is a copy of Ks' illustrated manuscript about the region Tara Clatei in Romania. Text in Hungarian printed in black, red and blue. Includes two full page coloured maps and nineteen full page illustrations of which many are devoted to traditional houses. One small marginal tear to one leaf. Original wrappers, front cover printed in red, blue and black, spine restored. Housed in a cloth folder. First edition, published as a supplement to "Magyar Iparmvszet" (vol. 14). Kalotaszeg is a region in Transylvania, Romania where many Hungarians live and it is a stronghold of old Transylvanian Hungarian folk traditions. Kroly Ks (1883-1977) was a Hungarian architect but also a writer, politician, artist, etc. and is famous for his unique Transylvanian Art Nouveau style influenced by the Vienna Session and Art Nouveau. He had a special interest in historical and traditional folk architecture and made several study trips to Kalotaszeg and the Szkely Land.
