LONDON COUNTY COUNCIL - Proposed Road Bridge at Charing Cross. Report by the Chairman (The Right Hon. Sir Leslie Scott, K.C.) of the Advisory Committee appointed by the Council by resolution of 3rd June, 1930, for the pupopses of preparing and submitting to the Council, within nine months, an agreed scheme for a road bridge and approaches at Charing Cross.

London, 1931. 42pp plus folding colour map of tha area and seven folding colour plans. 33x21, wraps Ex-lib, with small stamps on cover and rear of plans, significant water stain on cover, slight impact on first page and final plan, fair to good thus for fragile and rare item. Report of the Committee, established to come up with a plan to remove Charing Cross Station from the north side of the Thames, so that roads could be build for improved car circulation. Includes statements by Reginal Blomfield and Giles Gilbert Scott. Members of the Committee included Frank Pick, Raymond Unwin, F Longstreth Thompson. The Chairman and majority of the Committee prefered scheme number 6, an option explicitly rejected as undeliverable by other members of the Committee. The dissenting views are included here. Most proposals included grand boulevards for roads and huge railway engineering works. The bridge and station remain where they were in 1930.
