Contemporary blind- and gold-stamped Leather with raised bands and clasps, 4° (The spine-ends of the binding are restored, text-block modestly browned with some small pieces of margin lacking. Lacks the bottom corner of fol. 64. and repaired accordingly, because of this a few letters missing on the recto. With extensive annotations in the front and back and also a few in the margins of the main work by the same hand. The German Psalter in Martin Luther's (1483-1546) translation. Throughout his life Luther paid much attention to the Psalter, he called the Book of Psalms the Spirit's summary of the whole Bible. In this Wittenberg edition each Psalm is preceded by a brief explanation, both explanation and Psalm have been decorated with a large capital letter. Bound in an attractive leather binding, the boards gold-stamped with an oval-shaped central ornament. The one on the front depicting with the text ‘Per obedientah inius justi facti sumus’ (The obiedient are saved through justification). The one on the back with the text ‘Ecce agnus dei qui tollit paccata mundi ioan’ (Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.) A firm and complete copy.).
