Dennis, R.W.G. - Fungus flora of Venezuela and adjacent countries

London: Her Majesty's Stationary Office, 1970. First edition. Pp. xxxiv, 531; 15 full page color plates, 9 full page monochrome plates. Publisher's original coarse-weave cream-color cloth, spine is lettered in gilt on a red inset panel, original gray and orange dust jacket, lettered in black, thick sm 4to. From the series: Kew Bulletin Additional Series III, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. This volume offers keys to the fungi hitherto recorded from Venezuela and its neighbors to the east and west - Trinidad, Guyana, and Colombia. Fifteen colored plates contain natural size illustrations of 276 species of Agaricales based the author's water-color paintings, and another 158 species of Basidiomycetes and the larger Ascomycetes are figured in line drawings. Because of the pantropical distribution of so many fungi, the work should be of interest to mycologists throughout tropical and subtropical America where no such comprehensive compilation is at present available. This volume is from the private collection of University of Michigan mycologist Alexander H. Smith. It is signed by Smith on the front endpaper. No other ownership marks. Rare work. A fine copy in a lightly worn dust jacket with a repaired tear near the top of the spine..
