NY, Appleton-Century-Croft, 1946. Third Edition. 244p. Ex-library book. Old library markings on spine and inside. A Few stains and scuffing to front cover. Sunfading and wear to cover edges. This does not diminish the musically historical importance of the others though. Orlande de Lassus was a Netherlander who settled first in Sicily and then finally in Munich. He is considered one of the most influential composers of the 16th century and was skilled at many different compositional styles. He is best known for his mature polyphonic style.nMarc Antonio Ingegneri was an Italian composer of the same era. He was known as a string player but wrote a decent amount of masses and madrigals. His music is compared in style to that of Palestrina.nGiovanni Pierluigi Palestrina is most well-known of the three and was considerably famous in his own day and age. Much of his compositions have survived the test of time and he is credited with a massive influence on the development of church music. Not only that but he influenced many other famous composers we know today such as Guillaume Dufay and Josquin des Prez. .
