D." i.e. De Courcy Lewthwaite Dewar, a decorative metalwork designer, member of the Glasgow Girls group of artists during the 1890/1900s, supporter of the women's suffrage movement, and President of the Glasgow Society of Lady Artists from 1934 to 1937.
