Polished Maroon morocco with gilt decoration. Spine with similar decoration and gilt title: "Album". Central brass lock and key stamped "T. H. Bull" . Inner gilt dentelles. Original patterned endpapers. Dedication to front free-endpaper: "Marian St. H. E. Coffin from her affectionately attached Hele, Bangalaru 12 Febry. 1840." original drawings, numerous plates (some hand-coloured) pasted-in, on variously coloured leaves, some with embossed frames by De La Rue & Co, London. Artists/Family members identified inculde: Jemima Harrington (Mother); Beatrice Harrington (Daughter); Engraving of Maryanne Fletcher (sister-in-law); Engraving of Edward Fletcher (brother-in-law); 3 engravings of properties owned by the Harrington family in the Isle of Wight; Engraving by M. Uauci after W. Rols of Sir Ralph Palmer (with his signature) ; Jemima Davenport Harrington (sister); Sepia Photograph of Marian Isabell Steuart (Grand daughter) ** Sir Ralph Palmer was Chief Justice of Madras (1825-1835). First called to the bar 1808. Married Margaret Eliza Fearon in Madras 1829. She was the daughter of a Colonel in the EIC Army. The couple had a son Frederick Palmer, born Madras 1830 and a daughter Georgina Palmer born Madras 1831. Death of Ralph Palmer registered Q2 1838; will of Sir Ralph Palmer of Farnham Surrey proved 22/03/1838." - See Legacies of British Slavery *** Family History Records show that: "Marianne St Helena Elizabeth Harington was born in 1810, her father, Capt, was 30, and her mother, Jemima, was 34. She married Gen. Sir Isaac Campbell Coffin on 12 February 1824 in West Bengal, India. They had eight children in 12 years. She died on 13 February 1864 in Tamil Nadu, India, at the age of 54, and was buried there.".
