"For the Term of His Natural Life is a fantastic tale, which sometimes depends on false lucks. The tale details the affluences of Rufus Dawes, a youthful lad accused for the crime of stealing that he never did, from the fatality of a robbery to whom he was really offering his help. The cruel and degrading behavior imposed on the prisoners, most of whom were incarcerated for moderately slight offenses, are apparently taken. The situations undergone by the felons are explicitly pronounced. The book was grounded on a study by the writer and a duty call to the penitentiary of Port Arthur." The book was originally published in book form in 1874 and has been condensed to make it more readable for the modern reader.. Very Good in Very Good dust jacket .
