1940. Scott 884-888. Uncacheted addressed First day covers. The Artists Group. Hippocrates authored the statement, "Ars longa, vita brevis"-Art is long, life is brief. Without art, life would be intolerable, inconceivable. The men, honored by the Artists Group, have given pleasure to the world, they have added to our civilization, and have given American culture a distinct character. Announcement of the issuance of the Artists Group appeared in the Postal Bulletin of July 26, 1940, as follows: "Reprint of notice which appeared in the Postal Bulletin of July 26, 1940".
