A family of five in the courtyard of their house. The woman, standing in the open door, restrains the youngest child in a harness. A second child leans on their father's knee, while the third hands a doll to the youngest.Etching on hand laid paper, sheet size 116 x 137 mm., platemark 109 x 129 mm., made by Pieter de Mare (1758-1796) after Christina Chalon (Amsterdam 1749-1808 Hazerswoude). Illustration for: Johannes Le Francq van Berkhey: 'Zinspelende gedigtjes, op de geestige printjes ge-etst door Pieter de Mare, na de teekeningen van mejuffrouw Christina Chalon, berustende in de verzameling van [...] H.A. Dibbets', Amsterdam: Willem van Vliet, 1793. The print (unnumbered, but 32) illustrates the poem on page 28.In good condition, a few dark stains in the margin edges and three in the image area.
