The Latin scholar and historian George Buchanan (1506 - 1582) began translating or paraphrasing the Psalms as early as 1650, and an edition was published in 1568. Thomas Ruddiman (1674–1757) published an edition of Buchanan's works, and an edition of the psalms appeared separately in 1716.
