Armorial bookplate and signatures (Rowland Hazard). Partly with some staining. First edition. Judson was an American Protestant missionary who served in Burma for almost forty years. He published the first Burmese book in Burma in 1818 (Gospel of Matthew) and translated the Bible into Burmese (1835). This biography is based on letters and official correspondence sent to America.
