ALLEN, Rex (1920-99) - Inscribed Drawing Signed

One of the last of the singing cowboys, known as "Mister Cowboy" and "The Arizona Cowboy," Allen starred in cowboy films of the 1950s and is credited with composing 300 songs, among them "Crying in the Chapel" (1953). IDS, 8" X 10", n.p. n.y. [ca. 1960]. Near fine. Original pencil sketch by an unknown artist, a nicely executed head-and-shoulders portrait of a smiling Allen with a bandana around his neck, with "Rex Allen / 'The Arizona Cowboy'" pencilled beneath. Just left of center, Allen signs huge and bold in blur ballpoint. Undated but circa 1960, the height of his fame. .
