Published by John Betts, London 1848. On folding linen in 24 sections, size 94 by 79 cm. Scale 12 miles to the inch. Hand-coloured. A larger and more detailed version of the Betts Railroad map of the same period. A key provides an explanation of the lines opened, lines in progress, and projected railways. Includes a small inset map of the Scillies and the tip of Cornwall. Folds into cloth covers with the title and some pricing information, and then into original slipcase with the title gold-stamped to the front. Above the title to the top margin of the map is an ink signature and the rather grand address of the original owner. Map in VG condition, case slightly rubbed. Images available. Very Good.
