The original author, Israel Schorr, was the son of Baruch Schorr who was, at the time of his death in 1904, the Chief Cantor of the Great Synagogue at Lemberg, Galicia (now Poland), a famous composer and cantor indeed. The Preface to the Second Edition, published in 1928, is included here.
