Bookplate (second volume). A handsome copy of the first edition. Fredrika Bremer was a pioneer in the Swedish women's movement and a renowned novelist of her time. This is her diary kept during a five-year journey to Switzerland, Italy, Turkey, Palestine and Greece. She visited many famous sites, including Jerusalem, Bethlehem and Jaffa. In Constantinople she visited the old harem at the Topkapi Palace and Aya Sophia. Volume three describes her stay in Greece.
