The front endpaper & the edges of the pages are darkened with a few pages very lightly creased. A previous owner's name & date are penned on the half-title. Good. First American edition. An important black South African novelist and journalist, Peter Abrahams (1919-2017) became a crew member on a ship as a stoker in 1939 hoping to get to England where he finally arrived in 1941 and where this book was written. The story of a romance between a young South African man of mixed race and a white girl. The author "was born in 1919 in the Negro slums of Johannesburg, South Africa. At the age of nine he went to work in a tinsmithy. He taught himself to read and write and during intervals between work went to school." [Quoted from the dust wrapper's blurb]. Good .

General
All books are complete, at least in good condition and fully described, inclusive all defects. This does not include minor defects such as signature on first page or light damages of cover/ dust wrapper which is common for used books.
Prices are in net amounts, in euros and inclusive 6% VAT. Shipping costs will be calculated to the lowest price possible. If requested in the order form, a total order price will be communicated to the buyer.

Return policy
The buyer has the right to return the books to the seller within 7 days. Notification via e-mail would be appreciated. In case of pre-payments, refund will take place with deduction of shipment costs. In case of payment via invoice, only the shipment costs will be invoiced.
Is the return due to incorrect or incomplete descriptions of the book, the invoice amount + return costs will be refunded. The goods returned, have to be in the same condition as they were to the buyer. The risks of return are for the sender.
Shipment
The ownership of the goods sent will be for the seller until the invoice amount has been paid. The seller has the right to insure the goods for sending. The additional costs for insurance will be invoiced to the buyer.
The risks of shipment are for the buyer.

Alle boeken zijn compleet, tenminste in goede staat en volledig beschreven, inclusief alle gebreken. Hieronder wordt niet verstaan kleine gebreken, zoals naam op schutblad, lichte beschadigingen aan band / stofomslag of leesribbels in de rug, hetgeen normaal is voor gebruikte boeken. Het aanwezig zijn van een stofomslag wordt expliciet vermeld, het afwezig zijn niet.
Prijzen zijn netto, in euro's en inclusief 6% BTW. Verzendkosten, bank- en chequekosten worden doorberekend. Desgewenst kunt u in uw bestelling een prijsopgave van het totaalbedrag vragen.
Wijze van betaling
Nadat het gefactureerde bedrag is ontvangen, worden de bestelde boeken verzonden.
- Factuurbedrag dient binnen 7 dagen na ontvangst voldaan te worden

Retourrecht
Indien de aankoop niet (geheel) naar wens is, kan de koper binnen 7 dagen na ontvangst het bestelde aan verkoper retour zenden. Voorafgaande kennisgeving per e-mail wordt zeer op prijs gesteld, waarna terugbetaling / creditering van de boekenprijs zal volgen.
Is de retourzending een gevolg van een onvolledige beschrijving dan wordt het aankoopbedrag inclusief verzendkosten + retourporto terugbetaald c.q. gecrediteerd. Retourzendingen dienen verkoper te bereiken in dezelfde staat als waarin ze aan koper verzonden werden. Het risico van retourzendingen is voor de afzender.
Verzending
Geleverde boeken blijven eigendom van Antiquariaat Coriovallum tot volledige betaling van het factuurbedrag heeft plaatsgevonden.
Verkoper behoudt zich het recht voor de goederen te verzekeren en/of aangetekend te verzenden. De kosten hieruit voortvloeiend worden doorberekend aan de koper.
De verzending van de boeken is voor risico van de koper.

The American Academy of Music, a grand concert hall in Philadelphia, was built between 1855 and 1857 and is the oldest opera house in the US still used for its original purpose. The Adams-Pappenheim Opera Company, advertised here, was named after Austrian-American operatic soprano Eugenie Pappenheim and tenor Charles Adams. Very good .
