RAINBOW PUBLICATIONS / WILLIAM JENNINGS - Fountain of Light Newspaper #3 (Issue #3, July 1969)

Taos, NM: Rainbow Publications, 1969. 1st Edition Thus. Magazine. B&W Illustrations; This magazine is in Very Good+ condition. The magazine consists of Four sheets folded once (to make 16 pages) (and folded again, newspaper style. The sheets are 23" by 15" and the paper has noticeably toned over the years. Illustrated in black and white, with black and white photos throughout. There is some beginning edge wear to the foredges of the pages, and an occasional nick or two to the page edges. Contents include: Guitar-Making: Searching for Perfection, Craft Revitalization Northern New Mexico, Book Reviews (including Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut, and The Teachings of Don Juan by Carlos Casteneda) an editorial in both English and Spanish discussing the new editors, artists and co-workers, and noting that this is "our first issue" [which I assume to mean first with this new group], there is a directory of restaurants, art shops, and other places of business, with map, gallery reviews, and an Indian Calendar, along with advertising and illustrations. The Fountain of Light was a communal work of two New Mexico communes - The Lorien and The Family "Launched the paper in the Lorien Building, a converted warehouse north of town." (from Wikipedia). The newspaper, along with many other community services, was underwritten by one of the wealthy counterculterists until the money ran out (unfortunately, it appears that this paper lasted only one year (1969-1970) and approximately 14 issues. According to Worldcat (OCLC) , only one issue of this paper resides in an institution in Paris, France.. Very Good+ .
