Philadelphia, Tixeon, Inc, 1971. Tabloid. Side folding tabloid newspaper. 20 pp. Black and white illustrations throughout. An issue of this long running underground newspaper, perhaps better known as Distant Drummer, it started in 1967 and published until 1979, undergoing several ownership and name changes in the interim. It gained popularity in the Philadelphia area for its coverage of the local rock music, hippie and counterculture scene, although it did also cover left wing and social movements. This issue mostly focuses on local nightlife, art, music, etc. with some delving into local politics. A cover article discusses a member(s) of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), informing to the FBI on the "militant" Jewish Defense League (JDL). GOOD condition. Mailing label and writing on the upper front cover. Moderate toning. Horizontal fold crease present. Minor soiling and staining. Light chipping and creasing along the extremities. Good .
