Binding rubbed and worn - split to bottom compartment of spine; title margins browned; closed tear to tile-page lower margin; small piece cut from lower margin of A2 with loss of 't' from 'crept'. Forbes was the first Professor of Civil Law at Glasgow University. The first work on the subject to be published in Scotland; indeed it was also the author's first published work.
