MacLaurin, Colin; Murdoch, Patrick (ed.) - An account of Sir Isaac Newton's philosophical discoveries.

Unknown, 1775. 3rd Edition (?). Hardcover. Clean hardback tightly bound in brown calf with gilt titles on a red spine panel, 7 raised spine bands, a recent professional rebind with the original boards retained inc. gilt dentelles, corners neatly repaired, new endpapers, but retaining original owner's inscription (given to Fanny Winfield on Christmas day 1775, when she was 11!) on the front pastedown, and a different name on the dedication page, otherwise no inscriptions. The first three original leaves are missing (endpaper, half-title & title) so it starts with the dedication page, else all in excellent condition, including the six foldout plates. [vi of x] + xxvi + 412 pages, six plates, long introductory essay 'An account of the life and writings of the author'. As the title page is missing we are not 100% sure that this is the third (1775) edition; it may possibly be the second edition of 1750 - the pagination is the same for both.. Fair with No dust jacket as issued.
