Hardcover, bound in three quarter brown leather and marbled boards titled in gilt on leather labels and with gilt decorations between raised bands on the spine. The endpapers are marbled and the top edge is gilt. The covers are slightly rubbed. vi & 397 deckle-edged pages. There is scattered foxing, especially to the first few pages. An attractive floral bookplate is mounted on the front pastedown. Very good. First edition. Ernest Daudet (1837-1921) was a French journalist, novelist and historian. He was the brother of Alphonse Daudet. Very good .
