The colophon is on the inner back cover. Japanese text with hiragana, katakana, and furigana and illustrated stories, songs, and poems for children, many double-page.. Color front wrapper art and double-page illustrations. There are many illustrations by Iwamura Nobuo, Honda Shtar, It Takashi, Takei Takeo, Okamoto Kiichi, and many others. Kodomo no Kuni コドモノクニ [The Land of Children] was the finest children's magazine of the prewar period in Japan. Amazingly long-lived, it was published from 1922 to 1944. There were contributions in each heavily illustrated issue by some of the finest illustrators, painters, and writers of the time. With childrens' own poems and drawings included. A wonderful artifact at the intersection of high art and popular illustration. Covers are a bit soiled and loose, else a good copy. .
