Dark brown calf spine and corners, over faded marbled boards. Spine with 5 raised bands, blind stamped decorated compartments, and red leather title label. Red page edges. Marbled endpapers. Previous owner's signature: "John Wood S. John's Coll." Author's signature laid-down: "Yours faithfull M Gresley". Clean text and illustrations throughout. Family history records show that : "William Gresley was born on 16 March 1801 in Kenilworth, Warwickshire, the son of Caroline and Richard. He married Ann Wright Scott in October 1828. They had nine children in 12 years. He died on 19 November 1876 in Cookham, Berkshire, having lived a long life of 75 years.".
