Description: Paris: Francois-Seraphin Delpech, circa 1828-1840. Original lithograph. First edition. 52 x 33.5 cm (sheet). Good, light specks of foxing throughout. In 1823 Delpech undertook a vast series of portraits with facsimiles of the subjects’ writings, “The Iconography of contemporaries or Portraits of people whose names are more particularly linked, either by their actions or by their writings, to the various events which took place in France, from 1789 to 1829,” with facsimiles of the writing of each of them, published by F.-S. Delpech, lithographed by the most skillful artists [Mauzaisse, Grévedon, Belliard, Monanteuil, Bazin Jeune], based on paintings, sculptures and drawings [..], and several lithographed from life by MM. Hesse, Dupré and Maurin.. which must include 200 portraits. -. .
