Published on April 22, 1871, depicting George Augustus Constantine Phipps, 2nd Marquess of Normanby GCB GCMG PC (23 July 1819 – 3 April 1890), styled Viscount Normanby between 1831 and 1838 and Earl of Mulgrave between 1838 and 1863, a British Liberal politician and colonial governor of Nova Scotia, Queensland, New Zealand and Victoria. Vanity Fair was a British magazine known for its social, political, and literary content. It gained fame particularly for its caricatures of prominent figures of the time. These caricatures, drawn by renowned artists, captured the essence of their subjects with a mix of humor, satire, and artistry. .
