Published on June 13, 1891, depicting Sir Squire Bancroft (14 May 1841 – 19 April 1926), born Squire White Butterfield, an English actor-manager. He changed his name to Squire Bancroft Bancroft by deed poll just before his marriage. He and his wife Effie Bancroft are considered to have instigated a new form of drama known as 'drawing-room comedy' or 'cup and saucer drama', owing to the realism of their stage sets. Vanity Fair was a British magazine known for its social, political, and literary content. It gained fame particularly for its caricatures of prominent figures of the time. These caricatures, drawn by renowned artists, captured the essence of their subjects with a mix of humor, satire, and artistry. .
