Published on September 4, 1880, depicting Henry Richard (3 April 1812 – 20 August 1888), a Congregational minister and Welsh Member of Parliament between 1868–1888. Richard was an advocate of peace and international arbitration, as secretary of the Peace Society for forty years (1848–1884). His other interests included anti-slavery work. Vanity Fair was a British magazine known for its social, political, and literary content. It gained fame particularly for its caricatures of prominent figures of the time. These caricatures, drawn by renowned artists, captured the essence of their subjects with a mix of humor, satire, and artistry. .
