Published on December 31, 1870, depicting Alexander Heriot Mackonochie SSC (11 August 1825 – 15 December 1887), a Church of England mission priest known as "the martyr of St Alban's" on account of his prosecution and forced resignation for ritualist practices. Vanity Fair was a British magazine known for its social, political, and literary content. It gained fame particularly for its caricatures of prominent figures of the time. These caricatures, drawn by renowned artists, captured the essence of their subjects with a mix of humor, satire, and artistry. .
