Description: NP: ND. Blank sheet of laid paper watermarked with "Strasbourg Bend"; a shield bearing a bend sinister with a fleur de lys crest. Set symmetrically between chainlines. First used in the French city of Strasbourg in 1675, this watermark was widely reused and copied by papermakers in Holland, France, England, and elsewhere, so without countermark is not a good indicator of place of manufacture. Similar to Heawood 69, 71, 78. 11 X 1-3/8 inches; 28 X 33.9 cm. Soiled. Vertical crease. Tattered left edge where removed from binding. Good.
