Description: France: 18th century. Blank sheet of laid paper countermarked with capital "I" at lower right edge (Southern French papermakers often positioned watermarks at bottom of sheet). Possibly Jean Villedary, a firm of French papermakers active at Angoumois from 1668 to 1758, then from 1758 to 1812 at Guelderland in North Holland. Similar to Heawood 3006. 9-3/4 X 12 inches; 20 X 30.2 cm. Right edge creased and tattered. Good.
