Contemporary brown calf binding (scratches on the covers, partially split joints, bumped corners) - Spine with raised bands decorated and titled in gold (gilt, cracked leather, lower headpiece leveled, splits) - - Title soiled and restored at 1 corner, some marginal restorations, halos, sometimes marked, weakened leaves, marginal loss to the portrait of Louis XII, some passages underlined in the texts accompanying the portraits - 74 portraits engraved hors texte with 10 added from other works of Philippe VI, François Ier, Henry II, Charles IX, Henry III, Henry IV, most of smaller formats - Old handwritten bookplate with the title ......OCLC Number / Unique Identifier: 7870300: Comprises engraved t.p. and 64 full-page engravings (each with oval portrait, small coat of arms and engraved biographical text). Presumably engraved by P. Daret, J. Frosne, and possibly, the publisher L. Boissevin... Most of the plates have the undated imprint of Boissevin but pl. 63-64 have that of Daret and are dated respectively 1653 and 1652 Listed in the supplement to Graesse's Tresor de livres with imprint: vers 1660. .
