This new edition contains 440 pages. More than 150 works have been added and there are another 200 updated or revised entries. The main sources for new works are auction catalogues from American, English, French, Swiss and German auction houses. Picasso’s heirs are the primary consigners of newly catalogued works that are sold at auction. There are also drawings that Picasso drew spontaneously for friends, acquaintances and strangers. Some of these are drawn directly into books about the master, normally on half-titles or title pages. The main new exhibition catalogue cited is Picasso, from caricature to metamorphosis of style (Barcelona, 2003) and all the images from Paul Eluard’s Le Visage de la Paix (1950) have been added. .
