French astronomer, born on 26 February 1842, in Montigny-le-Roi and died on June 4, 1925 in Juvisy-sur-Orce. Author of several works, from 1883 headed the Observatory of Juvisy, founded by himself, since he/she carried out numerous research on astronomy, meteorology and climatology. He/She founded the monthly magazine L´Astronomie in 1882 and the Astronomical Society of France, of which he/she was President until his death. Recognition of Flammarion is because it was the first serious popularizer of astronomy and one of the most translated authors, science that put within the reach of amateurs. Intended for an ecclesiastical career, Flammarion studied theology at the seminary in the city of Langres, activity that had to leave for some time due to various economic setbacks of his family, after which came as an apprentice in a print shop. After resuming his studies, Flammarion left them completely to devote himself to his passion, astronomy, studying as an amateur since he/she was a child.
