Photogravure. brown ink ; 36 x 44 cm [plate size] Original photogravure produced in Boston by John Andrew & Son Plate from the large format portfolio series , on hand-made Van Gelder, printed by John Andrew & Son, each plate margin with printed title, date, and plate number, also with Curtis' copyright and printers' credit . each plate impress: approx. 16 3/4 x 14 or 12 1/4 x 17 1/2 in; sheets: 22 x 18 in or the reverse. "The Kalispel, who now number about a hundred, are scattered along the eastern side of the Pend d'Oreille river in eastern Washington. In the summer they assemble in their picturesque village, consisting of a few wooden houses and a dozen or more canvas-covered tipis, at the edge of a camas meadow opposite the town of Cusick."
