Prescient as a collector, she contributed to the dissemination of cubism and in particular the work of Picasso, Matisse and Cézanne Signed autograph letter, 1 page in-8. In English. Rare missive from this feminist who was a catalyst in the development of literature and modern art. Gertrude Stein would like to introduce Julien Green to a compatriot, the formidable American critic and journalist Woollcott. Alexander Humphreys Woollcott (1887-1943) was an American drama critic and commentator for The New Yorker magazine, a member of the Algonquin Round Table..“.. We are giving a tea party for Alexander Woollcott on the first of April, and we would like very much to have you come and meet him..”. Header, address of her hotel at "27 rue de Fleurus" in Montparnasse, which had become a center of artistic life, where, with her faithful companion Alice B. Toklas, she received the avant-garde of the whole world, qualified by G. S. from “Lost Generation”. The illustrious American critic, Alexandre Humphreys Woollcott (1887-1943), wrote notably for The New Yorker magazine.
