Charles Albert Damrow was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin in 1916. His parents, Johann and Bertha came to Wisconsin in 1888 from Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. They had 15 children, the last of which was Charles, whose given name was Clarence. The family name originated in Dammerau, West Prussia. Damrow captured the haunting beauty of the West in his landscapes. His love for horses and wildlife--especially the native American bison, or buffalo, is evident in his work. Damrow is a well-listed* artist whose work has been featured in countless art publications, magazines, and newspaper articles. His work was exhibited in the "100 Years of Western Art" show organized by Gallery West's James Parsons, and Fred Rosenstock of Rosenstock's. .
