Inscription to f.f.endpaper, " For Captain Horace Hood R.N. with the kind regards of his friend Clifford H. West, and with hopes that this little atlas will light up his course a bit across Darien, around South America to England, No' 576 St Mark's Ave, Brooklyn, New York, Sat, July 11, 1908, "sailing day for Darien ( celon)--------------This pocket atlas is the only pocket atlas extant containing a separate map for each state & territory of the United States C.H.W." Publishers label on f.pastedown states, The Army and Navy section is prepared with the collaboration of Rear Admiral Clifford H. West. (retired) U.S. Navy. Front cover almost detatched and leather worn at edges, f. paper and f.f.endpaper loose, rear cover worn at edges, all edges gilt. Maps in colour and detailed maps of each U.S State. The Hon: H.L.A. Hood was Captain of HMS Berwick, part of the Atlantic Fleet, he was a Captain in 1903. Poor/No Jacket.
