Title: Original Journals of the Eighteen Campaigns of Napoleon Bonaparte; Comprising all those in which he personally commanded in chief: Translated from the French. To which are added all the Bulletins relating to each campaign, now first published complete. […]
Description: London: J. Davis, 1816-17. 2 vols., [iv], [vi], [iv], 5-550; [ii], 209, [i], 441, [i]. Eccentric signatures, but pagination and text are correct. Sporadic light foxing. Vol. I with bookseller's notes to ffep, M4 with loss to fore-edge margin not affecting text, a few leaves short at fore-edge. Vol. II with quite a few pages unopened at head edge. Contemporary dark green quarter cloth, drab paper-covered boards, spines gilt ruled with red labels. Worn, some splashes and marks to spines, loss to edge of vol. II label, end caps and corners frayed, edges worn, externally a little shabby but unsophisticated and sound. Each volume with bookplate of William Bartlett to front pastedown and illegible ownership inscription to head of title-page. Very scarce in the UK and Ireland. WorldCat finds physical copies at the National Library of Ireland and Hull Central Library; LibraryHub adds a copy at Senate House Library, though catalogued with a date of 1920, so perhaps a reprint.
