Additional engraved title, title-page in red and black, woodcut initials and endpieces, errata to final leaf. Internally bright. Contemporary semi-limp vellum, title very faintly inked to spine, edges sprinkled red. Vellum a little grey, remains of two paper labels to spine, two thongs lost at upper joint but binding firm, endpapers renewed and ffep then removed, very good. Bookplate of the Dutch historian Jan Steffen Bartstra (1887-1962) to front pastedown. Contains the notes of both Johann Friedrich Gronovius (1611-1671) and his son Jakob Gronovius (1645 – 1716).
