Wraps soiled and rubbed with loss of front wrap fore-edge corners; a few margins 'thumbed'. * A variant design of the front wrap with a circular vignette of the 'Stone Bridge at Briggen Winch, on the Wear' and an elaborate scrolled border. Not listed in the Durham County Library list 'Books of Local Interest'. John Lee considered W.M.E. the 'most reliable and painstaking historian of Weardale' (Weardale Memories and Traditions p220).
