(1779) 27th edition. 12mo bound in fours and sixes, [9]pp, [92]pp Memorandum Book, [47]pp. Near contemporary paper wraps, lower joint repaired, part of Memorandum section completed in ink (farming notes, especially in the Carlisle area), assorted notes to free endpapers. Leaves for weeks 3 & 10-13 (5 in total) of Memorandum lacking. As a 'throw-away', copies may be expected to be scarce - this is the case. Current (2020) eighteenth century editions held at Newcastle City Library are those for 1763, 1776, 1787, 1788, 1797 and 1800; this is two more than in Basil Anderton's 1932 local catalogue. This first edition is held at BL, who also hold an imperfect copy of the 1797 issue; there is also a 1798 issue at Arizona University. DISCOVER lists 1769 at York and 1786 at Newcastle Universities We have found no copies in the online catalogue at Newcastle Lit. and Phil. The work had reached a 120th edition by 1874.
