Title: A Narrative of the Briton's Voyage to Pitcairn's Island; Including an Interesting Sketch of the Present State of the Brazils and of Spanish South America
Description: London:, Law and Whittaker. 1818. Hardcover, 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Book, Good +. Third Edition. 8vo. vii, 6, 180 pages, frontispiece and 14 etchings on 10 plates. Lacks one etching (supplied as a photocopy). The plate of Juan Fernandez is printed in rust brown. The binding appears to be of a later date, papered card covers and a red leather spine with title in gilt. Some foxing but otherwise very good. Shillibeer's account is the second published account of the fate of the mutineers of the Bounty on Pitcairn Island. The first one appeared in Amasa Delano's Narrative of Voyages and Travels. The Briton visited Pitcairn Island in September 1814 and interviewed John Adams, the last surviving mutineer. Also contains very interesting accounts of the Marquesas, Galapagos and Juan Fernandez Islands. Good.
